Rules and Regulations

Please refer to the “Downloads” section below for a download link for the official written Rules & Regulations documents.   This “Rules and FAQ” website section is just a brief summary of the basics and it’s NOT the full official rules.

Our intent is to keep events fun, safe, competitive and accessable to all types or racers and vehicles from the new guy to the seasoned professional. While our vehicle categories are rather broad at this time please rest assured that competition is often very close and the vehicle with the bigger motor does not necessarily win. Enjoying a closed road is a reward in itself – we’ve seen competitors with 10hp and 800hp finish the event with equally large smiles.

In general any experienced rider/driver who can navigate a mountain road at speed in a mature and responsible manner is welcome at our event. If you have a current racing license with a major race sanctioning body and two years of experience you should automatically be approved. If you have no racing license or you feel you’re not a fast racer do not let this deter you from racing with us. The nature of our events easily allows a big difference in competition speeds without interference between competitors since you leave the start line in speed order with gaps between the racers. If you can show that you have adequate vehicle control skills/experience and can safely navigate the racecourse you can still be approved to compete. If you’re coming to our event with a mindset to win and set records then racing experience is highly recommended. However, it’s perfectly acceptable (and recommended for first time competitors) that you just focus on enjoying the closed public road at a speed you’re comfortable with and let the race results fall where they may. When you register the form will ask for a resume of your experience and we may contact you directly for further evaluation.

You will need to wear full body protective gear appropriate for your vehicle type.

For the most part all kinds! We have three broad classes of vehicles we allow – Autos, Motorcycles and “Unlimited”. In the Unlimited class we’ve seen full hill climb special built vehicles, quads, side by sides, electric vehicles, sidecars and more.

Vehicles must be in safe working order. Autos must have a six point roll cage unless they are a 2000 model year or newer production car with all factory safety features intact. For autos with no roll cage see the “Street Class Supplemental Requirements” to confirm that you are in compliance.

There are typically EIGHT competion classes based mostly on motor size. Four for Motorcycles, three for Autos and the “unlimited” class.

Ultra Lightweight Motorcycle – up to 350cc motor (*single or twin cylinder only)

Lightweight Motorcycle – up to 500cc motor (*single or twin cylinder only)

Middleweight Motorcycle – up to 850cc motor

Heavyweight Motorcycle – 851cc and up

Class “A” Auto – up to 2500cc motor

Class “B” Auto – up to 4000cc motor

Class “C” Auto – 4001cc and up

Unlimlited Class – Anything reasonable goes.

*All Motorcycles with more than two cylinders must compete in Middleweight class at a minimum..
